Got a quote from a local Horse Transporting company to take me to a dressage competition at Golden Cross from my yard which is about 10 mins away........£45

To me that sounds expensive or it that the going rate these days?
Plus £10 a class entry fee.

Soundsa about right. You need to bear in mind they also have to get to your yard and hang about for you to finish, take you home then go home themselves

For what will amount to 3 or 4 hours work for them, I reckon it's bl**dy cheap tbh

bargainous!

have been hiring for past few years and couldn't get anyone professional to take me even up the road for less than £60. Luckily had friend of a friend who used to do a 5 mile trip and back and hand around for 3hours for £35, but that was a real bargain.

For a similar jaunt a friend of mine was quoted £100.

Your quote is very good. As has been said, getting to your yard, loading the horse, driving to the event & then hanging around at the venue. Returning you to your yard & then him getting home. You are using his lorry, diesel & his time. He will also have insurance. This transporter is giving you incredible value for money.
