I have my saddle for sale on one website as it was a free ad. Havent had any interest for a month but finally someone emails me about it. I told them the asking price and sent some pics and they then replied with this email...

Thanks for the mail

The price is reasonable,I work for an Equipment Company for past 25years, so they are owning me some amount of money and they havepromise to pay me by UK CHEQUE. So i want then to send the CHEQUE toyou on my behalf, when you receive the Cheque you will take it to your bank and get back when it going to clear, and for the pick up don't bother i will take good care of that,I have a shipping company who will handle the pickup,When the check clear at your bank you will deduct your asking price and send the rest funds to my shipping company for then to come down for the pick up of those items So i want then to send the UK CHEQUE to you on my behalf, when you receive the Cheque you will take it to your bank and get back when it going to clear, and for the pick up don't bother i will take good care of that,I have a shipping company who will handle the pickup,When the cheque clear at your bank you will deduct your asking price and send the rest funds to my shipping company for then to come down for the pick up of those items.

First thing that springs to mind is money laundering? I think I should steer well clear.

Very common

They want you to cash the cheque and send the difference - the thing is after 10 days this will bounce as its a stolen cheque

You will be left with nothing

So you can either agree and let them send you the cheque so that you can hand over to the police etc. Or tell them to feek off and not have any hassle.

It's a scam

I'm disappointed now. I was excited last night about a potential buyer. Really need the money as i've already given a cheque for my new saddles!

avoid avoid!

My dad had this sort of thing happen to him 3 times this year so far for the sale of his boat and someone even sent him a cheque which my dad asked the bank to check and they said it had been stolen! Seems to dodgy.
Also when my auntie was looking for a Chiwawa! dont ask why, someone who was listed local but actually turned out to be in Glasgow said if we sent her the money shed fly the puppy to us! As if.
I cant believe ppl think other ppl would fall for it !

Dont even go there!! I have loads of these, when selling my horsebox and my last horse. Its a definate scam, the cheque will be a rubber one, and you will be out of pocket. The English is always terrible, in these emails. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is!
