Is this mud fever or something else?

My horse has two white feet that have been sore for about a week now, I have been smothering them in sudocrem, and although the sores seems to heal, he then gets more in a slightly different place on his foot.

I'm not sure if I am dealing with mud fever or something else. His two black feet are completely unaffected. Sorry if the pictures are massive.

It's greasy heel - the same as mudfever but isolated in the heel and pastern region.

To remove it quickly and painlessly wash with Nizoral.

Youo can buy Nizoral from a chemist. Dilute with hand hot water, using a face cloth lather up well and wash all the way around the pastern and heel and also well beyond above and below.

Should be gone in a few days.

See if you can find a mineral block that contains Copper and zinc and allow free access to it - this will help reduce the risk of it returning as both minerals help to strengthen the skin.

It looks very similar to one I had some years ago - treated it for ages as mud fever and turned out to be mites. If it does not clear up fairly quickly I would get your vet to check - best cure I know for mites is Dectomax injection.

try washing the affected area with a dilute cleansing solution like hibiscrub then put on some sudocrem with a vaseline coating on top to act as a barrier from any moisture and mud. if you do not have sudocrem, you can try using mud fever ointments instead, they do the same thing
