Liri has been intermittently lame over the last month. Got the vet out and after doing a flexion test on her nearside fore, said she was lame due to fetlock joint. But after following his advice of no work and cold hosing, then just walking for a couple of weeks, she's still very lame in trot. He's now suggested more cold hosing and box rest for 10 days. As I was cold hosing the other day, I noticed the skin between the fetlock joint and the coronet band to be very red and warm. Only a patch about the size of a 1p piece, but its not scabby or bloody, just red and warm. Only reason I noticed it was cos I had the hose on that bit and the hair was parted. Not sure if its mud fever or eczema and could this make her lame??

If she was lame from mud fever she would be seriously lame as it is an infection. This sounds to me more like what your vet said and not mud fever. For an infection to occur through mud fever, the leg would be swollen, there would be many small scabs and the legs would be painful to the touch.
