I purchased my lovely ISH age 5 in May 13. He developed a cough and was a bit sorry for himself. The blood tests revealed raised liver enzymes of 300 (should be 50) Liver function normal. He also had raised WBC and anaemia. Tests were repeated in a months time (july) All normal except liver enzymes which had gone down to 100. The vet was ok with this and suggested another blood test in 6 months which I did yesterday. Now worried as enzymes have gone up again to 268. He want him in to do a biopsy and scope him. I am not sure if I should do this as he said it can be risky. He is well and does not have any worrying symptoms.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Can't comment on the biopsy, but a few years ago when mine had a similar issue, a scope had to be done. It certainly didn't harm him and gave useful information about his immune system- or lack of- which came as a surprise to all of us.

I hope it goes well for you.

Have you done anything to treat it or just monitored it? Milk thistle is great for liver issues and when mine had a liver problem last winter I gave her milk thistle and the difference within a week was amazing - back to her normal self

Yes did feed milk thistle for 4 months but he hates the taste of it, I might try again and see if it comes down again? x
