Went to pick out my horses feet this morning and noticed he had a very squashy, white and slightly swollen coronet/periople on all four feet, but not much at all on one hind. It kind of looked like they had been chewed down or he had stood on each foot and taken little chunks out of it?! :/ I've never seen this before on him, and only occasionally on others a whiteish colour when its been really wet. I pressed on them and it felt very strangely soft and peel-able but he couldn't seem to feel it and trotted him up and was totally sound. The field is completely dry and none of the others in the same field as him have anything different to normal... Any ideas anyone? Stressing now it could be an abcess (on all 4 feet though?) or its been suggested it could be rats chewing them (but why would he let them but the others wouldn't?). I thought perhaps a vitamin or mineral missing? He is eating grass (quite poor quality/short/dry), soaked hay, competition mix, nuts and a general multivitamin and mineral supplement. Help stop my worrying! Thanks :)
