Is this normal?

When Andy gets really excited he starts chomping on the bit.
Is this normal?
He only does whilst standing around and wants to get going, once he is actually going he stops. Teeth are fine.

Thumper does this lots too! It doesnt effect them in any way so its not a bad thing x

Mine does it at food time and most other times. He thoroughly enjoys doing it too, his head goes sideways and he gets into a good old grind. Just the nature of the horse.

Our TB pony we had years back used to do this. Has same personality as Andy - excitable!!! He used to chomp and chomp and chomp, and wiggle his head and bum around, stomp and paw.....once he got going he was fine! Teeth/back/saddle were all fine too! Think it is TB/excitable thing!!

Ron's not an ex-racer (but you try telling him that!) and he chomps too when he's keen to get going. I think it's a bit like fidgeting, or ants in the pants!

Yeah probably that,thumper does it more just as we come out of jump offs or just finish a course at home,along with jogging on the spot and throwing all her froff from her mouth on me-nice! x
