Is this Parelli advice as dangerous as I think it is?

In this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l9Qi0U-108M Linda Parelli suggests having her stirrup leathers between the flap and sweat flap of an English saddle. Surely that makes them likely to get hung up in the girth straps and it harder for the stirrup bars to do their job releasing the leather should a rider fall and be dragged?

It's just not how a saddle is designed to work.

Having seen that charming video where she flicks a rope at a half blind horse, heard that she fell off head first, no hat and that the pair of them deprive horses of water to ensure their compliance, I wouldn't believe or follow a word that nasty piece of work said.

Saw the word perelli and knew it would be stupid before I even watched.

But it does sort of make sense I can see where she is coming from with it.

Talk about making a hard job out of something so simple!
Exactly my thoughts!
Not saying it's right or wrong but I think Icelandic saddles can have the stirrup leathers under the flaps? I've got a wintec icelandic with the Y long dressage girth straps and I'm sure someone told me they can be used like that? Off to google it now....

I did this with my saddle when I had it on trial at request of the fitter. Worked a treat, never had any issues and carried on that way thereafter. Much comfier on the leg. They didn't get caught in the girth straps at all because they were resting on top of the keeper. I guess different saddles could have slightly different results though.

I couldn't have put it better myself!

Perhaps landing on her head without a hat explains some of her idiocy!

You are right, this is less safe. In the event of being dragged, English stirrup leathers are designed to slide off the bar, And this would stop that happening. As someone who escaped from being dragged exactly because the leather came off the bar, I would never ride with my leathers like that.

My stirrup leathers are under my saddle flap, though my buckles are up by the stirrup bar. I prefer them this way, it's a personal taste and i find them far more comfortable but I'm not keen on a knob like Linda championing this way!
