Do you consider it would be possible to get a fully working trailer to take 2 horses for around £700? Not bothered about make, but must be in good condition and not falling apart. Also, what do people think of rice trailers? P.S In Scotland, so if you hear of anything, let me know!

We got our trailer (two ponies, wouldn't have put anything much over 14.2 in there) for £150. Floor was rotten through but frame was sound. My dad's friend put in a new floor and electrics for us for a couple of hundred quid. It's an ancient beast (I'm talking about the days when you spoke to a telephone operator) but did us well.

In 10 years all it needed was a new floor because it stood in flood water for an afternoon.

So yes, but it's probably going to be old, and you'll have more chance of finding something if you're prepared to put some work in (that could just be a new lick of paint).

I bought my little rice trailer for £550 - had £150 worth of work done to it (floor checked, partitions sorted, new jockey wheel) - it's still not pretty, and booked in for a re-spray early next year - get two 15.1hh in (wouldn't want to try anything bigger) - if you look you will find :)

Thanks-very helpful. Our current trailer is a single horse one, which cost that, and has done us fairly well.
Nice to know there is hope!

Great thanks! Soaking up all this information!

Try a wanted ad. I'm an oldie and sometimes all we want to do is get rid without a succession of yobs coming and arguing over pennies. You never know!

(P.S. My trailer is not for sale!).

It's definitely possible.
Look on local facebook pages, there is one for £700 near me at the moment. Ad states it takes up to 2 x 16.2 and says it's in good condition.

(Not my trailer and in North Yorks so a long way, but posting as an example that it can be done).

yes, I bought a Richardson treble for £700 and did it up, now it looks fab

I should update the album as the partitions and sides inside have padding on now :) We did all the work ourselves but OH builds cars etc so get stuff like Paint and tools cheap/free . It did cost us about £600-700 to get it to this state though as we replaced the sides etc etc.
