Is this really so cheap? What's wrong with it...

He's been fined for incorrect descriptions before according to the internet....

This horse is probably as green as grass, he looks like a poor doer and winter is coming. Hence cheap price.

Do you know anyone up here that can visit it for you?

Actually - looks like he might have just bought a few over from Ireland and wants to get shot quickly - you might actually pick yourself up a bargain.

For that price you could get a five star vetting done and still be quids in.

Also, the fact that he has so many horses up for sale a journey over there would be worthwhile as you could look at them all.

I would however take a very knowledgeable friend with me, check passports with NED and take blood tests....

If any of the horses are the ages he purports then I will eat my hat. The one you link to looks rather young and poor. If you like the horse then I would only buy (with your own vet!) exactly what you see in front of you and totally discount anything the seller or passport may claim.

I am sure if you contact the local trading standards they will fill you in i would avoid if i was you he has a long track record none of it good.

Got to agree with this when buying ANY horse. Go in with your eyes very open and if you don't have enough knowledge, drag someone or several people along who do. We did with Sleepy cos if we'd believed everything the owner had been saying over the few weeks previous we'd never had got him and seriously missed out, for both me and him.

However I did a google on the dealer and I'd very much think twice. No one likes to have to go to court when things go pear shaped...

I actually agree with McNaughty. Surely not all of the horses are a problem. I would go and have a look, with a knowledgable friend if need be and get any potential purchase vetted. Horses are cheap at the moment and dealers do have a habit of buying ' job lots'

Having paid a few thousand for my last 3 horses and all of them ending up with veterinary problems ( all were vetted) I said to myself that if I ever get another horse I will take my chance on a ' £500 special ' There is no guarantee with horses and not everything has to have a silly price tag to be a good horse for someone.

I used to work for him, and can only say I wouldnt risk it. If your looking for a cheapie your as well off trying York Sales etc where you'd probably pick something like that up for £300, cheaper and the same, if not less of a risk...

On one of his other horses it says Typical Irish bred, very quiet to ride, snaffle mouth, hacks out on her own or company, excellent stable manners, suit novice,no vices, sold sound AND 3 months warranty.Yes the price is correct, bought cheaply through no fault of her own,due the Irish economy.lots of others similar type and price.

I'm not far away and have been keeping an eye on the ads recently. I've noticed his horses always seem cheaper that most the ones advertised but normally £800+. I always wonder just what is covered by the warranty.

Google this dealer, I have many stories I could tell. However someone on my yard did buy a horse off him (not what she wanted lots of problems) but after they were all sorted turned out to be a lovely horse and was very cheap - all of his seem to be.

I suppose if it is quite near where you live and you go with your eyes wide open, and a couple of knowledgeable friends in tow, it might be worth a look-see!? Also, has anyone asked what the warranty actually covers?
