Found this bit of 'horsey advice' randomly on horsemart tonight, and wondered how I have got through many many years of horse ownership without losing sleep over this one.

"It’s the bane of most horse owners’ lives – static cling building up and ruining the appearance of precious horse blankets. "

Anyway, help is at hand. For top tips (such as blowdrying your horse's 'blankets' and using a fabric softener) click on the link below.

LOL! :D

lol how the hell did i manage before this informatin was published?
- i was ready to sell my boy as i just couldnt cope with his static blankets anymore! ;)

haha, bane of my life, riiight

much worse than long cold dark winters, wellies full of mud, hauling hay around...its the static cling that puts me over the edge!

Ha ha ha!!

Gosh there was me thinking there were more issues with things like ragwort etc... but apparently not the bane is static cling on rugs...!! Fantastically funny!

Silly isn't it, there I was wading through the armpit high mud completely preoccupied with insignificant little matters like the price of hay and how I can get out of riding the nappy monster horse tomorrow, while all the time there was this massive problem lurking in the tack room...
I shall be stocking up on lenor in tesco tomorrow!

*hangs head in shame, ignores mounting pile of work and deadlines, shelves search for mudproof-waterproof-coldproof boots, climbs over piles of gear that needs sorting, stuggles into back brace, stumbles out of the house past the for sale sign even though such sale will allow us to have our horses at home despite probably having to move many miles to get the right place, and staggers up the road to the shop to buy an ionic hairdriyer and a very large bottle of conditioner*

ROFL....Glad you have your priorities right Mrs M!!

Blimey and there was me worrying about silly things life will my new matting arrive so stable finished in time for my mare who is yet due to foal.
When all the time i should of ignored that silly little prob and got on with sorting out the static cling that might be happening on her rug, that i was too preoccupied to even noticed.
Bad mummy in fact so bad best put mare up for sale before foal arrives to a mummy that does not notice static cling

I am such a terrible Mummy! I don't do any of those things. I now realise that instead of keeping my tb fat, my cob and shetland thin, getting enough hay in for winter I should blowdry my rugs. Thank you for that vital piece of information!

Do we think the ionic hairdryer or the fabric conditioner (or both) will work on supermarket freezers?

Not sure. Possibly, if you have a long enough extension lead. ;)

Will it work on metal work surfaces in work, which I always without fail get a shock from when using the cling film? Damn those ions, damn them!
