is this sweet itch?

I moved my horses to another field yesterday so they could use the field shelter (not that they have) but my horse has had an itchy neck for a while and found he'd done this to himself. is it sweet itch?

i noticed him scratching on a fence post earlier, i've put my mares fly rug on him now but he had managed to undo the neck cover this evening.

Have you treated for lice? Could be any number of things sweetitch is more usually (although not always) along mane and top of tail.

Hmmm, not sure its sweet itch coz that would normally be all along the mane not just a bit and also the tail would be affected.

The pattern of rubbing with SI looks different to these pictures.

I would treat him for lice and mites first put some aloe vera cream-gel on to help it heal my boy has been itching lately has a few bald bits here and there so bringing him in at night for next few days to see if it helps
