As most of you are now aware Big V is of to the UK in Two weeks to attend Boarding School with my Friend Kelly.

I am starting to get to the floods of tears stage whenever I think of him going and I will miss the little booger a lot!

I was talking (well sobbing actually) to my DH today about how even though I have moved Vardi 3 times since I have owned him (nearly 4 years now!) I have always been there to take him off the trailer and spend time with him getting him settled and happy. I was in bits of the thought of him arriving in Dover to be collected by Kelly who although lovely he does not know and not seeing him till mid August. Hated the idea that he would think I had abandoned him (I know I know he will think nothing of the sort as long as he has hay, food and a kind word!)

My wonderful OH has just booked 4 days off work and a hotel and a ferry so that we can arrive the day before he arrives in the UK and I can go with Kelly to collect him from Dover and bring him back to her yard, then spend a couple of days settling him in.

This is going to add oh about £600 to the costs of sending him over but I think it is worth the expense.

I am a much happier and far less guilt ridden Mum now.

I love my OH

I don't think you are being silly. Many horses get upset and worried when moved away from familiar faces, surroundings and fieldmates. I had one who stood in the corner of the field for five days next to the gate where she had entered from. Every time I let her out she headed straight back down there. It will be more reassuring for him to see a familiar face when he arrives. And how lovely is your OH doing that!? :)

I think this is a lovely post, it shows how much you care for your horses mind as well as his belly. You'll be able to keep your sanity as well, not worrying about him as much

Nothing silly there, he will be happier and settle quicker with his mummy there and you will feel better and be able to ensure he is safe and sound. Win, win situation as far as I can see. BTW what a lovely, thoughtful OH you have.
