And why do they pick them up across their backs? She even turns them over when she gets to them rather than pick them up by the breast. At least she doesn't get the wing across her eyes this way.

Aw i have a similar pic only of a duck.
They carry them on the backs so well balanced. It shows a good in built ability they don't damage them when carried like that. They love there job- can't wait for my boy to be better and back to working!

DD - what is wrong with your boy? What a nuisance this time of year.
I'm really enjoying working the dog and am tempted to get a spaniel to add to the collection. OH remains unvconvinced!
MM - we need a pic of Alfie and his bunny!
MBL - ours looks the same when she has nicked a woolly hat off the radiator and carries it wround the house. Or dirty pants from the laundry basket - anything in the mouth is good news.

Clodagh you could be me i too want a spaniel but still working on convincing OH its his idea!. Well after hundreds spent on tests it turns out at present to be a bad inner ear infection and a wimpy lab! Ha ha thankful of nothing more serious- its a concern when a lab stops eating!!

Super picture!

I have working springers, I love their energy and the fact that I can beat or pick-up with them, the ultimate all-rounder.

If ours stopped eating we would be very worried too! She cost £500 just before Christmas after she ate something that even her labrador digestion couldn't deal with. She has a shaved tum now - she is glad it hasn't snowed!
I would love a springer but they always look like they have been on the blue smarties, I think I would get tired watching.

Where i take my lab dog training the lady breeds springers and i have been training one of hers we have had it in house a couple of times and i have to say although mad when out and about she is like the lab in that she just chills- i am slowly convincing OH. We get married in April and i keep hinting what a lovely present it would be!
