My friend looking for a horse is going to look at this one tomorrow, girl seems lovely and very genuine... It is a long way away though :(

If anyone knows ( indirectly of course :) ) of any others, please let me know...

If you saw my post before it was removed about the naughty HHO'er telling porkies you willl know we have been looking for AGES!!!!

She needs,

* 15h - 16h max,
* 6 - 12 ish,
* Gedling preferred but not essential,
* RC type to do all activities, ( well schooled ideally - or established and not green )
* Has to be able to eventually jump round b/novice, disco and 1m amature classes,
* Hack anywhere, alone / company.
* Don't mind a little spooky, and would like him / her to have a bit about it, not a plodder but NO rearers, buckers, bolters etc and no vices :)
* Connie / ISH / WB type stamp ( No cobs i'm afraid, not her bag )
* MAX price £4500 ish ( to include tack if at top end realistically... )

I have exhausted every website I know and can't find anything near us, East Sussex area, ( Golden Cross )

PPPPPPLEASE Help me find her something...

A 5* Home for life awaits...

well if thats a genuine ad then sounds perfect! i dont see anything wrong with looking far away but maybe line up a few from the same area as him to view in one day to make the most of it?

id be slightly concerned by the word sensative!

My previous horse would be classed as "sensitive" and he was hard work. The sort that hated change, and if something upset him he became difficult to ride.
Could well not be the case with this one......but when an advert says not a novice ride as is sensitive, from what i have seen......it means quirky!

Fingers crossed he is just what she is looking for though x

Well, spoke with the girl at length - she is only 14, she seems lovely, and explained that she had worded the ad that way to put off novices, she wants more of a fun comp home for him... She is taking a video of him this afternoon and sending it via e-mail so we can see him going, she says he just wouldn't tolerate being pulled in the chops and kicked up the guts, but I don't know of any horse that would ' like ' it particularly...

Does anyone know of anything more local to us, say 30mile ish radius?

xx

Nice looking chap and yes is cheap. 'Sensitive' can cover a lot of issues but the fact he's ridden in a dutch gag and pelham would put me off personally. Not a problem maybe for your friend but I prefer a horse to go nicely in a snaffle (rules out a lot of horses!) :)

I was quite surprised by his age, the jumping pics look like a green horse to me.

Best to go and see him and make a judgement from that really though, its so hard to tell from pics.

Why is a 14 year old writing sale ads?? Shouldnt the parents be dealing with this? Sounds a bit of an odd situation to me, but horse looks lovely.

Priced about right to my mind - the market is dead, same horses are cropping up again and again in adverts, and since you can pick up something with proven affiliated form to a decent level (i.e more than PN/discovery), which is reasonably forgiving, same age, for under 10K, I wouldn't pay more than 3 for something which had no aff record. Normally he'd be worth more than that, sure, but not right now.

A few questions I would ask the vendor before viewing:

Is the horse good to hack alone or in company and is it good in traffic? Normally this is mentioned in the ad, and if it is omitted I am always a little bit suspicious. If they verbally tell you the horse is good to hack/in traffic, then I would want to see him hacking out alone in traffic when you view.

Ask for the show name it competed under and Google to see if you can find any results for him. Ask exactly what competitions it has done and what results it has had. If not placed, asked if it normally jumps clear, if it has ever been eliminated etc.

Ask how long they have had the horse, where they bought it and the reason for sale.

Ask if it has had any injuries, illnesses or physical problems whilst in their ownership. If you have an email address for them, I'd be tempted to ask these questions by email so you have written proof of what they claim.

Have you tried a 'wanted' ad? Put one up on the board at Golden Cross, Hailsham Feeds, Windmilll saddlery and Windmill Feeds, Sian Saddlery, Lusteds etc. There may be someone out there with just the horse you are looking for but haven't advertised because of the market/time of year etc.

Has Emma Hinkley not got anything suitable in? She has an overheight connie on her website.

Hmm its says he has showjumped but best at xc. He could be very spooky at fillers as he looks like he's jumping very green or he could be one of those horses which just knock every fence down. You won't know until you try.

Where in Herts is he?
I can go and see him first if you want an eye ran over him before you travel up?
pm me if you do or drop by for a cuppa afterwards ;) I'm near st albans :).

I write my sales ads :D My mum cant even turn on the computer :o

I was acctually drooling over that horse earlier as it isnt too far away from me, he does look lovley, and if the girl seems genuine enough I don't see any harm in travelling further to see what oculd be a perfect horse for you or your friend :)

If it was a dealer then i'd have my doubts though :D
