this is the new bit I bought for the ginger one - I measure it against his pelham and they are technically the same size.
However, I think it looks too small - opinions?

Sorry about the massive pictures :(

What is the mouthpiece on the pelham? if it is a straight one and the snaffle is jointed I find you need to add 1/2" to a jointed to allow it to hang properly.

Yes I think you couldve done with it 1/4 to 1/2 an inch bigger as the loose rings will pinch the corners of her mouth otherwise.

I'm not an expert but it looks too small to me run the risk of pinching as the ring moves through.

I would try a larger one.

This is why I hate changing bits  Someone please make pelhams dressage legal :p

Thankfully we have a shop onsite so I'll nip in first thing and buy a new one for him in the morning :D

thanks guys :o

Not wishing to p*** on your bonfire any more but is the mouthpiece the same as the rings? In your pics it looks to be a black metal whilst the rings are stainless steel. I am sure that the mouthpiece must match the rings for Dressage. Please ignore this if I am wrong on either account.

Mixed metals have been allowed for several years now.

Mixed metals on the mouthpiece aren't allowed I don't think- we have a copper roller snaffle that isn't legal (unfortunately!) for that reason.

Looks small... Good luck with your dressage diva conversion!

Been allowed for years - copper inserts and lozenges of different materials are legal!

However copper rollers along the mouthpiece are not legal, but nothing to do with the material

Nope, rules used to be the mouthpeice had to be all the same metal - so you couldn't have a copper lozenge on a sweet iron bit, btu that has changed now and you can have mixed metals.

Sorry to hijack OP but can I just ask would a french link/lozenge, mouth piece need to be a different size to a single jointed? both being loose ring snaffle.
