Hello there
am back after a long stint away and a move to Oxford :-)

just wondering if those of you in the know can help with the price of this trailer ...

I have been offered an IW hb505 1997 Ali floored, lockable hitched trailer for £1800 off a friend. Does this sound about right?? It's on it's 3rd owner but all pony club peeps so I expect it to be in fairly good nick.

All help grateful

thanks
p :-)

If you ring a IW dealer, they will be able to tell you ezactly what it's worth

I spoke to Cotswold Trailers last year with the same question and they were very helpful 01451 850319

I spent a while searching the Ebay 'completed listings' on Ifor 505's only yesterday, so that I could work out what I should be bidding on a nice 2003 trailer.

I ended up with a list of prices according to age of 'nice' trailers (all trailers listed below did have aluminium flooring)

The list was fairly consistent with prices in order of age this is what I found:

1996 £1,700 (this was rather tired looking - all the others below were nicer)
1997 £2,272
2001 £2,154
2002 £2,427
2003 £2,450
2005 £2,600
2007 £3,100

So, for £1,800 I would say you were getting a very reasonably priced trailer - I would go for it.

I have a 2004 HB505 that I was bought (birthday pressie) two years ago for £2200 from another rider.

The ali floor is the big bonus, it takes a lot of worry away, although you do need to check under the matting just to be on the safe side.

£1800 seems fair but its amazing how much people will pay for used trailers ... a friend bought a brand new 505 2 years ago for £2800..

We were quoted £3,800 (inc vat, not delivery) for an Ifor 506 yesterday.
sounds ok did you shop round to end up at that ? I guess its the latest model and the 505 was the old one and they were clearing stock plus two years ago
so £3800 isnt bad and not going to lose much if you intend to keep it a few years, might even cost you less than a second hand one that you will spend money on maintaining/repairs...

We thought it was a good price and it was only the 2nd dealer that we phoned, the trailer in question was due into their shop in a couple of weeks.

It helped bring the second hand prices into perspective, so that we didn't bid too high on the trailer we were watching on Ebay.
