Hi, i was woundering if anyone had herd of a De gouge stopping a rearing problem, just finished talking to my friend who has taken on a loan, and the owner has told her to ride in the De gouge because the horse has had a previous rearing problem, i was under the impression that it was only used to encourage the correct head carriage of the horse? is this true, will it really stop the horse from rearing???xxx

Yeah your right, its not an anti-rearing tool!

I used one on a highly strung tb once, hoping it would help with his head carriage. He snapped it :p Serves me right for trying to cut corners.
Proper training far outweighs gadgets.

and no, it will not stop a horse rearing, if you are lucky, the horse will snap it, if you are unlucky, the horse will go up and over and possibly break its neck.

Arhh, so thats what its called!! I've seen them on odd occassions, but never knew its name. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
As for the rearing part, I would never use that on a horse anyway, let alone risk my life or a horses life if it was in use on a rearer.
