Is this weird?

I put an advert up for my mare the other day and had an email the first day- seemed like a nice girl, asking for more pics and if her tack/rugs were included. I responded with more pics and said that tack and rugs were not included. She then responded with another email asking if I would consider selling the tack and rugs on top of the price my mare and if I could deliver or if the buyer would have to transport her.

I responded that I may have a saddle that she could buy but that I have other horses and therefore can't give her the one I use for her. Also suggested she tells me what she is looking for etc.

Now, the English was good and there was no mention of cheques clearing or anything that sounded dodgy BUUUT... I just find that a bit weird, she never asked any questions about the horse at all (my advert is quite in depth so maybe there was nothing else she needed to know?) or even any questions about the tack- I could have sold her with any old crap!

I don't mean to come across as rude or mean in any way in this post but I do wonder if it's a timewaster emailer or someone who is genuinely interested... Any ideas? :confused::confused:
 
Could be genuine, if your a first time buyer it costs a fortune to kit out and tack/rugs included or at small cost make a huge difference to what you can afford. I would ask them to call you, scams always seem to prefer email.
 
I don't know. I had quite a lot of e mails when I sold a horse in summer. Some of them seemed bit wierd, but I came to the conclusion that there were a lot of wierd buyers around! Could you ask her to phone so you can discuss it? Is she wanting to come and see the horse? If she doesn't then I'd be wary. Stranger things have happened though. I know someone who bought without seeing this year. They liked the name!
 
I have suggested that she phone me, not my decision whether she does or not of course! She has not mentioned coming to see her or even that she likes the mare! I won't be selling her unless I meet the buyer, she's also probably not an ideal "first time" horse although I haven't been petty enough to put that she's not a novice ride in the advert (she is, but it depends on what KIND of novice you are, if you get me...?).

I suppose I should stop being surprised when people seem odd.

Ooh, that's a very good point! I did put ono in the ad but I can't seem to see that it came through when I look at it now....hmmm.... Thanks for that, feel a bit better about it now.

True. Also it can be a hastle having to go finding tack and rugs for a new horse - especially coming into winter, and especially if its your first horse.

Wait and see what develops... Let us know!x
 
Actually that was a question I asked before we came to view, as was also buying this time of year and new to pony owning. My budget had to cover pony + tack, rugs + companion (who fortunately came with all his pony clobber as rider moving on to horses)
