I have just been having a cup of coffee and started to read this weeks H&H, first point they have run the advert for the three year old that a lot of people on this forum including myself took objection to last week. At the same time my OH was reading todays Times and in it are two wildly opposite photos, the first one is on page 19 and is illustrating a wonderful story regarding Oscar a black cat owned by people in Jersey, and shows how much love some owners have for their animals, the next one is on page 42, and I think tells its own story, if that horses face does not show fear, I do not know anythink at all;;;;;I know it seems to be a horse used as a "bucking bronco" going on thefact there seems to be no bridle and just straps round body, but also take a look at spurs.....but why do we have to be continually reminded of the cruelty that is inflicted on dumb animals in this world, I would love to be in the position of having a magic wand and stopping it all.

Haven't seen the horse story, but was just watching a clip on the BBC about the cat, and it almost had me in tears. The vet who performed the operation was clearly so invested in giving that animal the best chance it could and was visibly moved by its first steps after its new 'paws' were fitted. Good for him, and may this be the first of many successful applications of this technology (in both cats and other animals, including humans)
