Mine does the most stupid things even in her bl**dy stable!!! Bangs her head everywhere, and I think she now needs stitches/superglue!!!!

Lucys not axident prone but she's illness prone and i mean the most unlikely illness you can have. In the Twelve years i've had her she's got
COPD
Lami (first time she had rotation in all four feet)
Spavins in both hocks
Equine Herpis (the paralisis one)
Bacterial infection of the gut (the worst case the vet has ever seen It took 5 courses of baytrill to shift it)
A foot abcess so bad the vet thought she had broken her leg!!!!
Now she has Amyloidosis a very very rare illness (there is a 1 in 8 million chance someone would have it)
Think thats everything

Oh yes my TB has a fabulous talent for injuring herself!
The current one is a lovely pair of hind legs ripped to shreds, no idea how she has done it I assume its from when she is galoping round like a loony showing of to the boys! Suprisingly she isn't lame though!
tooch wood *touches head* she hasn't had anything very very serious its anoying little things such as abcesses, mud fever, cuts and scratches, choke etc.

it must be a tb thing. mine is a night mare. always getting cuts everywhere, usually his legs. "touch wood" hes not been to bad the last two years but hes lame at the moment so i wont speak to soon!
a classic one was him being a fanny in his paddock and turning and kicking out at the post and rail. kicking the top rail off and coming down with the bottom rail between his back legs skining the inside of both back legs a treat.

Not just TBs!! I have had 2 very accident prone arab crosses!
My loan mare would trip over everything, and fall down every rabbit hole she could find. This resulted in her falling over one day and landing on me, luckily we were both fine.
My last young gelding always came in with cuts and scrapes, would trip over everything and anything, I could never have a loose rein otherwise he would fall flat on his face. He would also hit his face on his stable wall if he was slightly startled. Once he hit his face so hard he did not eat for 2 and a half days. no grass, hay, sugarbeet, mash etc. Vet put it down to bruising and him feeling sorry for himself!
Why do we have horses again?

Might be silly, but I'm getting his eyes checked....might be worthwhile if you think it could be a sight problem too?

Nope got a full MOT on the horses and everything was fine, I just seem to end up with really stupid horses
My gelding especially, I could run full pelt at him, jump and hang off his neck like a monkey...and he just stood there

Getting my boys eyes checked at some point just to put my mind at rest if for nothing else lol...and then hopefully be told, nope hes fine and that I too just have a dingbatbrained horse Bless him.

How do you get their eyes properly checked though? They can't just say... ehm, no that's not clear, yes that's clearer... HOLD IT... that's it. Conclusion: Nearsightedness, -5.0 on each eye. Needs contact lenses... or glasses Would love to see her in one.

Lol XD They can do eye checkups and tests on a normal routine call out - check for reacitivity, partial blindness, cataracts etc I guess? Not 100% sure what it entails, but shall be asking my vet next time he's out soon.
