Ok, i wanted to get a wintec isabell werth for my boy as i fell in love with it when i rode in my mates horse in one, i spoke to my saddler and he said they are not suitable for wide warmbloods..... (which my horse is)

Since then i have heard of alot of people using them on their chunky warmbloods with no problems

(they use a different saddler)

Now im confused, do i get one and get a different saddler or go with what he says??

Have you, or anyone you know, had one of these on a chunky horse? Please help, my heads spinning now

Thankies xx

Why would you have to change saddlers? I presume he will do what my saddler does....bring out loads for you to try and see what fits

my saddler would bring the saddles I requested and then try to see what fits and if the Isabel doesn't fit then you wouldn't have it would you? I wouldn't want a saddler that issued such a 'blanket' statement, not all warmbloods are the same shape.

I had a Isabell wintec black wide gullet on a pretty broad horse and it fitted well, you can always try the xwide gullet as well, I would just try the saddles you want to try...after all you are the customer

my daughter uses hers on a big 17.2hh warmblood and says its the best fitting saddle she has ever had for her. Infact she would rather ride in that than her lovely leather gp. Her horse moves better in her isabell. Not sure what gullett she has in it though

it completely depends on the individual horse, i bought one for mine but he absoloutely hates it even though i love it!! hes a chunky monkey warmblood too

I used one on a Dutch warmblood with no problems, fitted fine.
I had a leather saddle before and tried to get my saddler to make me one shaped like the Isabell but he refused, saying the if the old saddle works why change?
Think some saddlers just don't like the Wintecs. Its worth still getting it checked by a saddler anyway to make sure it fits correctly and the flocking is in the right place and they can add flocking to the cair saddles as well.

agree with Delta99 that some saddlers just dont seem to like Wintecs, although mine does say that my Isabell fits my boy nicely. That said im not entirely convinced that the synthetic saddles do fit literally any horse as they claim to (my friend's TB has high withers adn so her saddler sold her a riser pad to make her wintec fit properly).

i love my Isabell and even prefer the synthetic to the leather as i think it has more stickability! my boy is a 16hh middleweight warmblood and it fits him great (he's in a wide gullet) and is so light on his back.

good luck, sure you will find something that you are happy with.

The reason he said it wasnt suitable was because my boy hasnt got any withers, but.... Ive seen this saddle fitted on a flat backed, table top, shire x cob and it fits lovely.

Maybe its as you say, he just doesnt like wintecs..

Thankyou for your replies x
