Would be interested in views on both these saddles as I am looking for something to fit my 6 year old warmblood mare who is still likely to change shape. Both have the changeable gullets which will be useful but wonder if one is better than the other in terms of rider position etc. I'm not too worried about synthetic opposed to leather so would be interested in views on the wintec and the bates model of the Isabell Werth. Thanks in advance for your replies.

It depends whether you like being "wedged in" or not. I much prefer being told where to sit by my saddle, so I get on really well with the Isabells (the leather and synthetic versions are exactly the same apart from the obvious leather/synthetic coverings, I believe). The Bates Caprilli is built as the Wintec 500 and Pro, they are flatter in the seat and I find they don't "hold" the seat and legs as much.
The other big difference (I think I am correct in saying this) is that the stirrup bars on the Isabells are set slightly further back than the others.
As always though, get your saddle professionally fitted to both you and the horse. One type may not fit as well as the other and you therefore may not have much of a choice anyway!

I have recently got a Wintec Isabell saddle, having previously been very snobby about 'plastic' saddles. I have to say I absolutely & utterly love it!!!! It sits beautifully on my 2 horses, one with the medium gullet in, the other with the narrow/med gullet. It sits me up in a much better dressage position than I have managed before, my stirrups are 2 holes longer & sitting trot is very nearly painless. All in all a revolution has occured!!

I seem to always write posts about Isabells, I love them so much, love the deep seat....but also really like the equiseude stuff your like glued into that saddle so when they go nuts you arent unsettled!! defo wouldnt have any other saddle!

Isabell ABSOLUTELY!!! there is no comparison with the two. The Isabell is like a real dressage saddle for fit, comfort and positioning and the wintec is well - rubbish compared! I have owned loads of Dressage saddles in the past, Kiefer, Jaguar, Albion, Frank Baines etc and non of them for value and positioning of the rider match the Isabell apart from the Black Country Eloquence I have for my other dressage horse this saddle is superb. I will say that the Isabell Werth in real leather is no where near as comfortable as the equisuede so save yourself some money and go equisuede. I teach quite a few riders that struggle with leg position and when I take off their own saddle and put on my Isabell the difference is extraordinary, needless to say a lot of my pupils now have Isabell's. Go for it!

Agree with everything. The stirrup bars are set further back because HM designed the original saddle.

I also found the equisuede Isabelle very comfortable when I rode one horse in it (Arab x ID) but not when I rode my CBxTB in it. Bear in mind as well, they do not fit like the Wintec saddles (different tree).
