Hello from a newbie. I hope someone can clarify something please. I've done a search and a lot of reading but can't find anyone in the same position?

I have a lovely 3 1/2 year old ISH who I have had since she was weaned at 6 months. Her dam is a registered section A, ISH with a green passport, sire was unknown.

When I bought her I had her chipped and passported with a DNA test to prove parentage to her dam and subsequently received a WHITE passport. However, after reading several posts on here I think this should of been a BLUE passport?

Please can anyone confirm if this is the case, I have emailed the ISH register today but am too impatient to wait for a reply :D

Many thanks for any help.

Hi and welcome

Blue passports are no more anyway - it is now only green or white.

Green with full breeding registered white with unknown or part breeding.

Is there any particular reason you want a different colour? - The green book is not what it was! You now can no longer see a horse advertised with a green book and think it has RID in it

If you are wanting to use it to compete you can do this on the white book if the dam has passed sufficient RID down eg Blue Chip Challenge.

The stallion is probably not unknown - at the time he might not have been graded and might subsequently have done so.

Have you spoke to the breeder to get the name?

Thanks cronkmoor, I didn't realise they've stopped doing the blue passports. I've no problem with having a white passport, I just wanted to make sure that the right one had been issued as the dam is a registered ISH

I have no details of the sire at all, just a 16.2 coloured:p

Do you know where in the country the foal was born? May help identify sire! Also have a look at the irish piebald and skewbald associstion website to narrow down sire. A lot of S2's and non reg's are on it.
Also from this year all passports are going to be green!
