How sometimes winning is not the be all and end all,
Last weekend we went out to local riding club and we had a fantastic day, 1st in the 70cm 5th in the 80cm due to rider error giving us a pole down, 1st in the 90, 2nd in novice workers and 1st in the intermediate workers. completely over the moon with Tom who the week before had a real confidence knock after we took him to a BSPS show and attempted the novice workers at 1meter (Felt a lot bigger).
Today we went to local Pony Club and rider error (I sat there like a lemon) caused us a cheeky stop in the novice workers, into the 90cm where he jumped fab and just had an unlucky pole in the jump off to leave us 3rd. Then we decided to up our game and jump the meter class and at our local PC they build as wide as well as just high unlike riding club. I decided not to walk the course as we already knew our striding's and walking the course makes me really nervous. Took him into an upright at aprox 1 meter in the collecting ring and he slammed the breaks on 4 times. I think the problem was it was so dam slippy even with studs in he was not confident in the ground. we put it down to a cross popped it twice and then put it back up which he jumped ok. against my better judgement I put on my brave girl pants and in we went. my decision was mad because the fences in the ring had not been over jumped and the ground was better.
The bell rang and we came round into number one! he gave me a fantastic jump and I knew that we would be ok as long as I kept my leg on, number 2 an upright we had down 3 clear 4 first part of the double down 5 clear 6 another upright down, then 7, 8 , 9 and 10 all clear. the fences we had down were completely my fault I was riding too much on my hands but we got round in one piece.
Do you know what I was over the moon with Tom and more pleased with that 12 faults than all his wins put together last week.
So 2 nice chilled out days for Tom then off to our local agricultural show on Wednesday where as well as ridden coloured and horse workers we will be attempting our first ever BS class. We won a ticket to ride last weekend so we are going to have ago at the British Novice so wish me look and here are a few photos from last week and tis week.
