I'm studying for the PTT exam and one of the lecture subjects that I may get just says Isolation procedure. Doesn't say what for or anything! Driving me mad as I can't find anything on the web!

I'm guessing it could be for an illness or if its a new horse to the yard? But I guess it depends on what illness they have as to how long they are isolated for?

Sorry its so vague!

The BHS wont thank me for saying this but to truly isolate you need a separate stable/ yard at least 100 yards from the main one with its own set of tools, muck heap, paddock, groom etc but as this isnt practical in most cases look in a book called the Horsemasters Notebook as there used to be a bit in there and it was one of the books on the reading list for that level and was rewritten by Isla Aunty FBHS and examiner. Generally if you use your common sense you should be ok anyway.
