So today, i offered to give a friend at the yard a lesson on my TB, who is usually well behaved and the friend is a good rider practising for his 3 riding.
The friend mounts using a mounting block and lands a little heavily in the saddle, Kaddy spins and broncs across the yard and eventually stops but is all flustered.

My instructor is near by so we both help my friend and Kaddy to calm down and eventually he walks into the school. (Friend stayed on luckily!)
The friend is obviously anxious so i just got him to walk and trot on a 20m circle but Kaddy just seemed so agitated and upset.
The friend wasnt feeling safe either so i got on, i had no problems with mounting or riding. He chilled out straight away and worked really nicely.

Kaddys saddle isnt the best fit but i have the saddler coming out and he has a nice high wither numnah and pro lite pad. when feeling his back, he isnt showing signs of discomfort or when i mount.

Do you think it was just the friend landing too heavily in the saddle? He is 2 stone heavier than me but has ridden him before with no problems and he certainly isnt too heavy for him.

As i said before, the saddler is coming out to look at the saddle, i just think its weird how i can get on and ride with no problems and it is so out of character for Kaddy to do that.

Almost gave me a heart attack and im so glad he stayed on!

TBs are sensitive. I doubt it is much to do with the saddle or he would still do it with you (im aware you need it checked but you are having that done anyway). My guess would be your friend landed heavily scared your horse and then subsequently your friend was understandably nervous and that transferred through. Hence you get on and are relaxed and horse relaxes.
