i have been trying to get contact with the company that issued Angus' passport to get it updated with my details to change ownership and to change his sex from colt to gelding.

ive called them multiple times but no one ever answers, ive left copious messages on their voicemail with my number (as their voicemail instructs me to do so) but have had no one call me back. i have also emailed them again with no reply.

if i google them on my phone it says under opening hours "permanently closed." i am reluctant to send off the passport to the address listed with a cheque as im not sure it would even be received by anyone!

its the Gypsy cob division of the Lipizzaner Stud Association of GB. http://www.gypsycobpassports.co.uk/

any ideas as to what i should do? their website scares me as it goes on about all these new laws and fines regarding passports!

Overstamp him with another association and change ownership with them. I have a mare passported with a german studbook and I have overstamped her with AES and changed ownership that way (and named her) so I have no need to send passport to Germany. Also did same once with a KWPN mare, I overstamped her British Warmblood to change owner. Just find a suitable association for him.

Ah I never even thought of this thank you.

Is there certain types of passports certain horses need to have? My last boys was a reissued wetherbys as he was a rescue tb so needed a copy as the original was lost. I don’t know much about this stuff!

It just depends on breed type really. Is he a coloured horse or a solid? If hes coloured you might be able to do him with one of the coloured societies. Has he got registered breeding? If not then ask the horse passport agency if they will overstamp his passport. Ive only overstamped warmbloods and theres quite a few different societies they can go with

He’s a gypsy cob, black blagdon, i think that is considered coloured? Yes I’m sure his breeding is registered, he was bred at San cler down in Wales. However his parentage isn’t in his current passport as this is no longer included in their documentation, think this was a new thing introduced last year. I emailed his breeders to ask if they knew who his dam and sire were but as they breed 50 odd horses a year they couldn’t remember. They told me to contact the passport agency and alas that is where I am now as I can’t get a hold of them!

They have been taken over by the Lipizzaner stud association of GB, there’s a link in my original post that takes you to their site, they have a gypsy cob division. This is who I have been unable to get any contact with unfortunately

I think Leo means tgca.co.uk which look to be different to gypsycobpassports.co.uk

(Looks like Leo hit post just before I did!)
