It all went horribly wrong

I was going to pick my new horse up today with my hubby and our friend with her trailer. When we got to the yard, all the horses but one and mine had been turned out. I took my horse out into the yard and the other horse got turned out, really helpful because my horse was then on his own and bolted across the yard to be with his mate, I couldn't hold him as he's a big lad!! The yard owner told me that if I loaded him properly in the first place, I wouldn't have this problem. Instead of helping me, he stood there critisising me. Caught the horse and tried to load him, and he got as far as 2 front feet on the ramp, then he spun round and tried to make a bee line for the field. Then out of the blue, the yard owners son came storming round the corner and said if that horse walks on the grass once more I'm going to shoot it! They have a patch of grass in the middle of the yard and we got yelled at because my horse walked on it! To cut the story down we had to leave him there as with all the bad feeling in the air and the yard owners yelling at us he was never going to load. Got someone picking him up in the morning with a lorry instead of a trailer so hopefully things will go alot more smoothly tomorrow. Why do some people have to be so rude? Was really upset :-(
 
It's not their horse, he's a livery there. They were really rude to the previous owner too, told her the horse must be gone by Tuesday.
 
Ah well. Some people are just rude. If they want to be like that, let them, it is their loss if they alienate people, it can't be great for business! Bet you are glad you are not keeping the horse there!

Hope everything goes well tomorrow and that you can have your new boy to enjoy! :D
 
At work. It's my fault really, I just expected him to load fine seeing as he was imported, has hunted and has been to shows before.
 
Thats awful, poor you.

My experience is that the first time you load a new horse they can be a bit tricky as they haven't yet learned to trust you. Hopefully he loads well tomorrow and you cn put all this behind you.
 
No, it's the owners fault! It's very irresponsible not to be there when a buyer collects your horse. Even if it has done all that, it's not a robot!
They have a responsibility to you to make sure you get the horse on the box safely, to their YO so make sure nothing untoward happens, and to the horse to make sure it heads off to its new home in one piece!! Unbelievable!

Poor horse, poor you, having to start off together with that sort of negative input can't be good for either of you. Hope it goes better for the poor chap tomorrow. x
 
Sounds awful! I agree the owner should really have been there or made sure someone they trusted was there to make sure everything went smoothly for you.

Hope tomorrow goes well and you have him home soon
 
I loaned my horse out and I put my horse into box and let loaner take her out other end I would also say I could not stand by and not help someone having trouble with their horse and hope the same for me.
 
Yikes, what a nightmare. You were so excited yesterday too! It is a bit weird tho that the owner just left you to it to try to load a new horse on your own....I think if it were me I'd either want someone I know / trust to help load up or be there myself. Shame. :(
