It looks like I'm going to be a dog owner!

I am sooo excited! Me and hubby have talked about having a dog for quite a while. He wants a gun-dog so we have been looking at labs and spaniels.
Then a few months ago, a friend of a friend rescued a labrador puppy (8 months old). He has been training it to the gun while trying to find it a home (he already has two labs and doesn't really want three).
We went over to look at him this evening, and of course I have fallen in love with him!
Tomorrow we go shopping for a dog bed

Then hopefully we can fetch Oscar on Monday!

Aww well done! Top tip- dont bother with a dog bed!! Just go to Tesco and buy a single quilt and cover (will cost about £8 if you buy their budget range!) you can wash it every day if needs be and when you fold it in half and in half again it is a really comfy bed!

Oooh good tip about the dog bed! To be honest, all the dogs I've had in the past have made do without a 'dog-bed' - they have had an old blanket/duvet/cushion or whatever we had that was old and now only suitable for the dogs!
This is the first dog me and hubby have bought together though. I think Oscar may be our substitute child - hence the 'need' for a dog-bed

I am so disappointed.

The guy who we were getting the dog from has now just doubled the price he wants for him.

When he rescued the dog, he gave the woman £50 for him. He then told us he wanted £200 for him because he had spent a lot of time training him to the gun. We thought that was fair enough.
Now he wants £400 for him.

I do know that a trained gun-dog would cost more than that but the point is - he asked £200 for him last week. Now we are interested, the price has shot up.
We don't know what to do now. Do we walk away from the deal because we could buy a puppy for that price and my husband will train it to the gun (although it wouldn't be ready for this year's season) or do we pay the money and get a dog that we know is the right type for us? Aaaaargh!
