...but whilst sorting out a bag of old bridle parts I found two 'straps' which have a billet on one end but holes on the other, I can't work out what they are, does anyone have any ideas? they are about 18 inches long. Sorry if I'm being thick and its common sense what they are! Thanks

could it be the extra headpiece part of a double bridle, so the billet is for the bit ring & the holes are to attach another cheek piece to. Maybe completely wrong here but thats what ive pictured from your description!
