I'm so sorry to post such a downer thread but I need to 'talk' to someone, hubs in on nights and isn't the worrier I am so I need to get this out somewhere.

Fizz retired from flyball last weekend. It was the best send off I could have hoped for with lots of laughs and no pressure. It feels so incredibly strange and I'm not sure what I'll be doing moving forward. It was Fizz's true love, Ginny hasn't loved it this year after a confidence knock where as she's loving agility and Fen doesn't care what he's doing as long as he's working. It does feel like the end of a chapter which in and of itself I'm finding really hard.

Over the last few days, Jack has really declined so we made the decision today to get him booked in to be pts. He's having more and more accidents (not through our lack of management), he panicks when he wakes up if he's not with us, forgets he's eaten and drank and generally doesn't seek himself anymore.

Then today, Dobby was back at the vets today. He had sudden lameness during exercise 10 days ago, initially we assumed it was a tweak but got him checked. He was put on rest and anti inflammatories. There was some swelling initially so the vet thought the same as us. He was back today as he's still not sound. Swelling has gone but one toe joint is much larger than the others and there's nothing external which appears to have caused it. He's booked in for x rays in a week but I'm already worried about what it might be 😞

You have an awful lot to unpack, no wonder you are struggling.

We're all here if you want to offload whenever, no need to apologise. In fact there is a whole thread dedicated to offloading called 'the safe place to feel down'. A problem shared is a problem halved and all that.

So sorry to hear about Jack. Sending big hugs to you. I'm hoping this reply doesn't comme across as patronising as its certainly not meant that way. . Its so hard saying goodbye to any animal but a dog is so special. ❤️❤️‍🩹

Hoping better news for Dobby soon.

Not patronising at all, I know we did a wonderful thing taking in a 14yo is bad shape for a family who were discarding him and we knew this would be coming but it doesn't make it easier. He's been throughly spoilt for 2 years and definitely knows he's loved which is the most important thing 🥰

You did a wonderful thing for Jack. I know it will be hard but the last few years of his life were very happy and it's best to let him go with dignity. Re Dobby, try not to panic, toe things can take a while to come right, same as with us humans!
Thank you.

Dobby is such a sweet boy, he was more interested in giving the vet cuddles than telling her what hurt. I'm keeping everything crossed its just a minor niggle. He loves his frisbee time and I'd hate to see him not able to enjoy it anymore.
