Some of you may remember a couple of posts from me dithering about buying a new horse (you are forgiven if you don't!).

I had almost decided to do it and spotted a lovely little d I wanted to see but decided to give myself over my holiday to mull things over. Three days in and I have decided it's not the right time. We are finishing the extension from hell and trying to do up the house to sell. We aim to buy our dream home. We are hoping to have another baby after our recent pregnancy heartbreaks.

I know waiting is the right thing to do and it would be so selfish to get another now but my inner little girl is stamping her feet and shouting NOT FAIR! I realise I am being a brat and if I told my husband how I feel he would tell me to do it (he has even offered to pay) but I will stay strong and wait. I

that sucks but being a grown up also means you can eat the whole tub of ice cream without sharing one spoonful. i admit not a great consolation but consation none the less.

I'll throw a spanner in the works and say that looking at it from the other side what a wonderful stress relief horses can be when everything else in life is hard or a bit of an uphill struggle, turning up at the yard to see that giant head hanging over the stable door waiting for you is just wonderful. It's so important to have time just for yourself and horses are brilliant for that.

I find when I'm at the yard I have to focus solely on the horses to get the best from them so all my problems need to be left at the gate! It's lovely to have that couple of hours a day just to set all my issues aside and relax and do something just for myself. It's very draining to be giving 24/7, there's nothing wrong with being a little bit selfish now and again. You could even say that you need a horse for your mental health. That's what I tell my hubby!

No help!!

I know what you mean though. My old lad was my shoulder to cry on when I didn't get into my university of choice. I have been backwards and forwards through this decision and I may not be finished yet. I do have access to a horse to ride, I love her to bits but it's not the same as having your own. Sensible head needed!
