Itching again - ideas?

Sandy has started scratching again really badly :( Shes defleaed every month, house has been fully treated, allergy tests came back negative, food hasn't been changed for a couple of weeks and she's been fine on it (Beta Senior) - nothing else has changed at all (washing powder etc). She's been bathed in shampoo from the vets as per their instructions. She's booked in at 3pm today for the vets but I can see it being another round of blood tests and skin scrapings :( I swear this doglet likes to keep the vets in business :p
 
Has she had a course of antihistamines?Gave dex 2 a day when he was itching a few months back, after two weeks job done!

She was given an injection by the vet last time which stopped it for a while. It's been suggested that she has hayfever but surely she'd be sneezing then? Can dogs even get hayfever? :confused: Will give mum a quick call and get her to ask about them tho :)

Dex just started itching when he was moulting/ the grass began to grow- so I assumed it was something to do with pollen of some sort. Does not have to mean sneezing etc.....
 
She's only been doing it since the pyo and emergency hysterectomy. Will find out what the vet things in half an hour tho :)
 
Sorry to be a bore but food allergies, indeed any allergies, can take a while to build up.
Mine has four piriton a day, the human kind, you can get a pot of 500 for about a tenner online, at vet's direction of course.
 
The vet thinks it might be a flea allergy. She's given her an anti itch injection and a shot of antibiotics plus some antibiotic tablets coz shes given herself a sore from chewing her belly :( She needs to go back next week for another injection and then see how it goes, the vet didn't want to prescribe antihistamines at present. The vet shaved parts of her fur away on her belly and has said from the scars and pigments on her skin it looks like this has happened before more than once so I guess we'll follow her directions. She has mentioned speaking to a specialist if it doesn't clear in a couple of weeks.

Better news - apparantly theres going to be a new vet prescribed joint treatment available soon and she's going to recomend Sandy for it :)
 
My old vet also blamed allergies to parasites, even though he didn't have any on him.
Has anyone else in the house got fleas?
Sorry to keep going on :o but for a tenner every few months and four wee tablets a day, our lives have become so much easier and it really does help keep a lid on B's skin :)
 
Yellow Dog had fleas quite badly (they seem to love him :confused: ) and we found a couple on her so we deflead them both and treated the house (they get done every 6 weeks with frontline but it didn't seem to work this time). The cats are also bu**ers for getting fleas, I'm sure the flea treatment doesn't last as long as it should. If she isn't showing improvement after the second injection then we'll go down that route, she hardly scatched at all this evening so something is obviously working - maybe if we can break the cycle she'll be ok. It's not a money issue, my parents have thrown more money at her than most would they're just following vets advice atm :)
 
Three things, first get some NAF D-tox and feed the dog a strong pinch of that a day. It levels out their immune system although it is designed for horse it works as well on all animals.
Secondly Witch Hazel eases the irritation
Thirdly get some Neem Oil off the internet and dilute a teaspoon in out 250 mls of water (You have to liquids the oil in hot water and use hot water to mix) and spray that on the dogs as it gets rid of fleas.
It is also wonderful sprayed on growing cabbages etc to prevent Cabbage Whites laying their eggs.
