I own two horses ,one quarter horse and one mini Shetland .My quarter horse rubs his tail on the stable walls and it becomes sore , I HAVE FOUND A CURE THAT WORKS FOR ME AND FRIENDS HORSES AS WELL .You need 1 bottle of baby oil .1 bottle of white wine vinegar ,7drops of menthol oil I mix the lot in a large container or clean bucket you can also use a separate bottle an mix 50-50 pour some in a clean spray bottle and before dusk spray all the affected tail then brush in well with a soft brush this must be done each evening after 2 days the hair will start to grow back and believe me it will try it, it works for sweet itch as well

If one rubs his tail on the stable wall, I would be checking for pinworms.
Will keep the above in mind though as iv got a sweetitch sufferer
