itching

my horse has developed an itch in the last couple of days over her chest neck and face and is rubbing it red raw? Does any one have any ideas what i can put on it or what it is or should i just call the vet. I have cleaned it with antiseptic and coated it in cream.

I've got one that is really itchy at the moment too, no apparent reason but I have been using a product called Septi-Clense Gel made by Nettex. Have only been using it for a couple of days along with putting a fly rug on him, seems to be doing the trick.

If you can't get hold of any aloe vera gel works well too

it could be sweet itch but doubtfull in those areas . allergy reaction maybe? lice/ like you said keep cleaning it in hibi scrub and apply sudecream with about 10 drops of tea terr in it that will soothe protect and stop it becoming affected if no better by the end of the week call the vet for some advice or maybe a call out!
