my jack russell and paterdale have in the last 2 weeks got very itchy skin they have both been done with frontline and wormed in the last 3 but I think its an allergy time of year they got this last year ive put some aloa vera gel on also got hedgehog in garden and they both run with me and the horse when excercising through harvested fields etc, have any of you had the same probs whould love to know how you treat allergys, thanks.

Sulphur tablets wrapped in cheese!
Can get them from any chemist, couple of pounds for 100, you can also get rock sulphur from a pet shop which can be left in water bowl. One a day (Ben's a Border so same size) as long as itching lasts but I stop asap so he doesn't get immune to them as they are the only things that work for him. Think it's meant to purify the system.

I find my dog only itches if there is too much protein in her diet so that may be worth checking out as well. She just gets a feed with less protein and is fine

thanks guys will try the sulphur tabs and I did think about diet they have been on the same diet for ages Frolic just as a tit bit while walking then a bowl of pedigree small bite they grab that when they need it and every 3 days have a bit of tesco or M & S meat in the square boxes infact last week they had a new tinned kind from M & S which might have been a bit ritch !!!! may be it was that how long will it be if it was that, for there little bodies to get over this itching !! thanks.

This is the post i want to post too... Boris is 11 month old JRT and itches for england! and loosing quite alot of his coat... it looks fairly thin against his skin (could see his black pigment spots against white coat)

He's on nature diet (evenings) and burns dog bis (Morning),
Frontlined and wormed to date...
Goes walkies on normal short grass park, and some times swims in the sea which i wash off with plain water. I stopped this swim session for nearly month but no difference.

Will try sulphur..

What can it be?

sevenoceans i would say food allergy change it to something with less proteins in it burns is a good food so try cutting out the nature diet. let him swim in the sea its good for their coats and skin put dont wash him off after c if that helps.

hunteress pedigree is a rubbish food, its full of additives and rubbish they dont need.i would try and feed something a bit more expensive as the cheaper foods do cause a problem
