My new horse has been with me 2 weeks and his ears are gettiing increasingly uncomfortable. He has rubbed the hair from the backs of them and hates having his bridle pulled over his right ear (would love some advice about how to get it on as he is getting increasingly passionate in his efforts to avoid having it pulled over his ear), although very gentle and not at all head shy in any other way. He is also shaking his head a bit.
The vet cannot see any mites or obvious problems but has washed out his ears and suggested i keep them covered when he is turned out this summer. I have looked at all the masks and can't see any - apart from riding masks - that just cover the ears. The yard owner suggested looking for something that would attach to a headcollar - does anyone know of a product like this or would I better off just buying a fly mask?
If so, has anyone got the Equilibrium fly mask? Is it good and what is the sizing like? He is a 15 hh Arab, should I buy medium?
