My dog keeps rubbing her eyes- took her to the vet and he couldn't find anything wrong with her. He mentioned it could be an allergy to something but she is on the same food since a puppy. Any ideas? thanks.

allergies can develop at any time but generally up to 2-3 years of age. Being on the same diet means nothing, you can only develop an allergy to something you've been exposed to so yes, it could be an allergy-strangely your vet is likely correct. What did he then recommend?

Thanks. He has given me an eye wash and then I have to take her back and maybe she will have to have steroids. I am hoping to avoid this though.

Dry eye. Hard/impossible to diagnose purely from visible signs. Need to do a Schirmer tear test.
