I don't know if anyone can help, but my little man has been rubbing his face on the bricks in his stable which has in turn removed the hair from this area and now scabs have formed, I've been cleaning it with a hibiscrub solution and putting aloe vera gel on it but neither of these seem to be making any difference.

can anyone help?

if anyone can it's much appreciated

Betcha it's lice! Right symptoms, right time of year. You can buy louse killing powders and lotions but a) you'll need to be very careful round your ned's face and b) most don't work very well! Frontline spray rubbed well down to the skin (spray a cloth first then wipe that on ned's face) works but whatever you use you need to repeat after 10 days as the eggs are unharmed and hatch out and promptly re-infest the horse. You also need to check every horse your boy comes into contact with and wash rugs, numnahs, grooming stuff too.

My youngster is itching like mad and is really hot. Have looked and treated with anti louse shampoo although cannot see anything. He is losing his caps at the moment so didn't know if teething was making a diffeference. Last night I left him in a light waffle rug and this morning he had ripped it pulling at it. Have ordered some antihitamines and got the vet out to him next week or sooner if no improvement.
Does your lad get warm. Our youngster who is 17hh is literally about to knock his house down so feel for you too.

Thanks for the replies

There was another pony on the yard ( that he's besotted with ) that had sores on her neck and back before his appeared on his face ? and yeah he has been getting quite warm so during the day when I can I tend to leave him rugless. I'm a try the frontline first.

Thanks again people
