Itchy girth area

Hello I wondered if any one could shed a bit of light on my horses new ailment... itchy left hand side of the girth area?? About one mile into my ride my horse will start to try and itch just in front of his girth ? There is nothing obvious just loose hair . I have checked for lumps & bumps on his skin ... nothing at all , I always groom for 30 mins + before I ride & after washing him down & his girth after ? His saddle does not appear to be slipping & was bespoke made for him I will get the saddle fitter out when I can to double check . All I can put it down to is him loosing his winter coat & possibly pulling at his hair . I have tried a sheepskin girth sleeve he hated it .is do not think it's ulsers as shows no other signs would welcome some advice or suggestions thank you in advance

It's been pretty much all week, his coat is now in full shead mode, so kinda put it down to this ? But I've had him 16 years not a behaviour he's always done ? Thank you

Did you ever get to the bottom of this? My youngster is doing the same thing, always the left side and always just in front of the girth like something is tickling her. Then when I untack she gives it a good itch

Hi , yes we did , after a very long elimination process , with my boy it's back issues, in a nutshell my physio found a very small lump on his spine just where riders weight under saddle is situated , this with my saddle not fitting correctly was sending nerve pain hence the side to side looking since having regular check ups with my physio, getting a new prolite pad for his saddle ( on advise from a master saddler) & investing in a equilibrium massage pad, my beautiful boy is back in regular work & he's very happy enjoying his light hacking . It did take me ages to get to the bottom of this one but I'm so pleased I did . I would just advise to really do your home work on any potential people you have come out to you even when people are recommended to you .
