Itchy hooves?...

Just wondering if anyone has any experience of their horse scratching their front hooves with their teeth and what it means? Have seen my ex racer do it a few times lately but didn't think anything of it until the farrier asked if I knew what the scratches were! It isn't violent scratching its more just a casual itch for a few seconds....any thoughts?

Mmmm, if it was a cob I'd say Feather Mites immediately.......... but guess it still could be on a TB? Its a bad year for them.

There's a lot on here about feather mites if you feed it into the archive.
