Itchy Horse

Can anyone help me out at all, my mare has been very itchy and it started around last month I have taken anything out of her field that she can itch on because she has ripped multiple fly rugs etc scratching herself. I've had the vet out to see her and they said it's not sweet itch, lice, worms etc etc. Just wondering if anyone knows of anything (creams, sprays, etc) that you can put on itchy spots to sooth the itch. She is fine still to ride but when I am tacking her up or in stable etc she will rub herself raw! Thanks!

sounds very similar to my lad, I had him blood tested for allergies in the end and he is allergic to dust mites, so has to be rugged permanently
I would ask the vet to test yours

Have you checked for lice or possible rain scald, both are really itchy. Pin worms cause them to itch their tails.

Have you changed feeds lately?

Feeding Yeast, Garlic or Cider Vinegar can help deter flies and other biting insects
