We went jumping today - only did the 60cm and 75cm classes. He was sluggish warming up but like a machine once inside (I am noticing he like jumping courses inside!). The 60cm class was wider then last time I did it - good in a way as we haven't really don't a lot of work on spreads.
Managed to get 5th (unfortunately rosette is PINK- so now have 2 pink ones!)

Did the 75cm, which TBH scared me a bit as ok its not big, but it was wide again, and the fillers all went in and there one one jump that was just 2 boards - and a new addition which he usually always stops at, right at the end. Well blow me down with a feather, he did them all in a fine style I must say, had a wee look at the ones with fillers but he was eating them up

So I was very happy that we had a clear round (and very surprised) .

BUT, for the clear round as usual jumps go up - they look scarier, but I was on a sugar high and having fun and Beau was going great guns - I almost missed it tho as I got off (I dont sit around on him between classes) and then had a girth problem! Went in, straight over 1st, floored it to the next and cleared it big, then came the 3rd, which tbh was my least favorite as it was lime green a spread (with back bar noticeably higher) and a wee filler. Now all I remember is coming in to it, lots of leg, he bunny hopped but I thought I was in the clear so locked onto the next fence and so didn't notice that I was about to come down on his neck

. Landed on my lady bits VERY hard and bounced off the left (I usually exit stage door right so it was a pleasant change to land on my arse and not my bum) Got dirt down my pants (in skin tight jods how??) and was laughing and the first aid wifey though I was hurt and bubbling

. Just unfortunate I couldn't get back on and go over it again at the end, but Beau had been a star and it was my fault for letting him decide on the stride/take off point.

I never thought I would say it but I like this jumping malarkey, especially now I am at an age where it most definitely is the taking part, not the winning (especially if it is another pink rosette!).

Only downer is OH is in France working so no one other than you guys to tell

Well done you! I have just started jumping this year after a 25 year gap and I love it! I have off a couple of times too but it doesn't seem to put me off! So glad you had a good time, roll on the next event! xx

Well it was the highest I've jumped him in a competition before. Still not massive and he was doing them easy - I was just TOO keen - I need to find a middle ground I think as I am either nervous or so keen I go round in auto pilot. I am not scared any more, in fact I dont feel fear. I hold my breath so its like a race against the clock - haha.
