As post says, was watching Badminton preview yesterday afternoon and then (all inspired) thought, sod this, I ought to be riding my boy. My husband made me a dressage arena y'day, mowed and strimmed and measured distances between letters etc, assisted by my step sons. He then wanted to come and watch me practice a test. So I warmed him up (horse not husband), cantered round the field, and then he bucked 4 times and threw me off, landed flat on my back, can't remember fall or hubby taking my hat off. Apparently I laid still for a few seconds (which my husband, running across field said felt like ages), jst about got back on and then asked hubby "what happened?" at which point he made me get off and put horse away.

I have a bruised knee, hips, chin, between shoulders, can't turn neck round and a headache. If anyone can offer sympathy I would be grateful as I have bored all my friends now and I hurt all over!!

We are both quite experienced but he has been so daft lately, I think it's spring grass!! Thanks for reading, feel better for sharing but sorry if you're all now bored too!!

Poor you!!! Similar thing happened to me on Christmas morning of all days! My little mare was quite fresh but that's nothing usual - 16 years old I must add. Wanted to get a couple of nice pics of us both, so trotted off across the field, before making the HUGE mistake of turning her for home whilst putting a bit of leg on....cue full on broncing fit, shoulders one way, head the other and hindquarters half a mile in the air, closely followed by me! Main thing I recall is the awful feeling of 'the point of no return' then my head hitting the ground, me then being dragged as I wouldn't let go! Apart from a dented head, my pride was well & truly squashed too!!!! Could barely sit up for my Xmas lunch - makes you wonder why you do it sometimes!
Hope you feel better soon!!!

Ouch! And why does it have to happen when youve had help from your OH?! Naughty horsey. Hope you feel better soon and dont get too much grief from your husband!

Ouch poor you! I must confess a couple of years ago I fell off doing indoor showjumping grabbed horse got back on and couldnt remember what happened but decided that as they were rebuilding a fence I must have mowed it down.

I jumped the rest of the round and came out of the arena. Someone noticed that as I left the arena I was heading the wrong way and asked me if I was ok when I said I wasnt sure and asked them what day it was they took me off my horse and made me sit in the office. I now have a pact with myself if I ever fall off and fell muddled I do not get back on. This could be why the no remounting rule was brought in methinks!!

I hope you went to hospital! I'm sure you did but you haven't mentioned it!

If you have a headache and can't turn your neck I would suggest you take a trip to A&E, especially as you can't remeber it all. It's just that my friend fell off once in similar circumstances, she braved it for three or four days before admitting her head and neck still hurt, went to hospital and found she had broken her neck!

Don't want to preach but please get yourself checked out if you haven't already.
