Just a quick one, I've been investigating finding cheaper insurance for my mare Bonnie as she will shortly be costing me £300 a month in retirement livery...!

She has been insured (fairly happily I might add!) with E&L since I bought her, purely because that was who her previous owner insured her with - I was young and unaware of their reputation :P They've paid out for the one claim I've had with her, but the problem I'm finding is that there's nothing more on her policy I can really decrease. So I've done a bit of shopping around, and have had a variety of quotes.

KBIS were cheaper than E&L for equivalent cover minus tack cover (which I don't really need as her tack will be in my loft for the foreseeable future!) at £270 for the year, Petplan and Stoneways were more expensive, I'll need to ring up for quotes for SEIB and Carriage Horse. Is KBIS a good bet? Or are there any other reputable companies I can try

Thank you :)

Im with E&L and have NOT had one problem with them paying out.ALSO if you phone them and tell them you want to cancel because youve had a better offer, they will reduce your premium.
I always tell them Im not paying the new premium and they either reduce it or keep at same level for new policy. E&L process claims within 3 days and I got my payment 2 weeks later.

If hes old and on retirement livery is it worth insuring her as how much vet treatment would you put her through?

Have to say.... I'm with E&L and they've been fantastic :-) payed nearly £1000 for a claim and paid it fast! Have heard good things about KBIS though.

She's only really going to retirement livery as I'm at uni and haven't managed to find her a loaner! She's only 14, so not old and I would want her to get any necessary treatment :)

Think I may ring up E&L again, it's a pain that vets don't tend to deal with them but they've paid out when I've needed them to so can't complain. KBIS definitely seems to be a possibility though. Thanks :)

Scottish equine insurance. A friend was raving about them today. She has had a bad year with her neddys and they have been brilliant at paying up! Plus she tells me they r very competitive!
