Just a little moan, really...
It started on Sat morning, my youngster managed to double barrel me in the shoulder, how it happened I haven't got a clue as I could have sworn I was by her head at the time... but anyway, she obviously is very supple because double barrelled me she has, didn't do much damage luckily, but the way she caught me must have hit a nerve, as my hand just opened without me realising - cue one mad 5 yo running around the fen with a leadrope dangling behind it. Managed to pick myself up, swore profusely and then realised that she is running loose round the fen, causing havoc with neighbour's horses and livestock, so I set off in pursuit - apparently, I could have given Hussein Bolt a run for his money
Caught the bloody thing and got it where I wanted it, spent about an hour trying to catch my breath and carried on with the jobs.
Next on the agenda was moving some ewes with their lambs from the lambing shed onto spring pasture - catching sheep is fairly easy, catching lambs is not!!! Me and my OH spent some very entertaining time running round and round in circles after them, such fun
. When we got to the last one we wanted, we were both fairly fed up and determined to get it on the trailer PDQ - we both spotted an opportunity at the same time, and, what can I say... The whole 5'5'' of me got rugby tackled and caught in the air by 15 stone of my dearly beloved - he knocked me out cold... I have come round after a short while, he tried to help me get up and somehow managed to dislocate my finger - ouch!!!
For Sunday said OH came up with a brilliant idea that we could quickly (sic!!!) fence about an acre paddock near the horse barn and chuck some horses out there to save ourselves dragging them 500 yards along the fen to their fields, thus minimising the danger of further injury. Just for a bit, till they get used to the routine of being out again... 25 posts and God only knows how many meters of electric rope, hundreds of screw in insulators later - I just wanted to die.
So, if anybody knows any good remedies for hurting... well, everything really, please do let me know
Yours truly
Martlin
