I don't know where you are but i'm in North West Scotland and its soooooo cold!!! It must be -5 or -6 out there now brrrr...
Just wondering what you guys are doing to warm up your beasties with this cold snap we are having??

Well, mine are out in the field 24/7...cruelly abandoned.
If anyone fancies rescuing them... I could collect them again in the spring?

haha!! Fred was out until a couple of days ago (with your hood may I add) but I chickened out because i'm a fairy. He is a hairy beast at the moment though but I made a big fluffy bed for him and could not resist putting him in haha.
My camera is a load of crap but I have been hinting wildly for a new Nikon for christmas so here's hoping. With any luck your mare should have a picture of a hunky thoroughbred tucked up in a cosy hood soon haha...

Ours are all chucked out

poor cobs have bib clips and are unrugged , cruel arent we

the clipped eventers have rugs
the others are naked
ponios are naked
as is the foal and yearling

they shiver to keep warm

Yup - mine's shivering to keep himself himself warm too!

He's on hols - out 24/7, no rugs, no shoes, no feed - and being a bit of an arse TBH! He's clearly got plenty of energy, and I'm going to need reinforcements when I need to get him in after Xmas to start work again!

Our new field (where we don't have to poo pick!) is very sheltered which is lovely after the old field which was like being in the middle of the Siberian waste. They are quite happy sheltering in the dip but it was b*******y cold yesterday wasn't it?

Im up in NE Scotland and its been pretty cold here. Was -1 all day at BSJA on Sunday! Dont know what it was last night but there was rather thick ice on the water trough.

Mine are all out as usual (bar the shetland who comes in at night). All well rugged and well fed

Only problem Im having is my 2 ponies are a bit footy on such frozen mud and finding it hard to walk on

After riding for ten winters in -10 to -20, the winter temperatures here in the UK are a bliss

I rode yesterday in plenty of layers and Gore-Tex on top, horsey with his exercise blanket on and we had a good schooling session. It's the getting ready bit that is the worst, once I get going I am fine

Horsey seemed to enjoy himself too!
Can't wait for the spring though!

Here in NB Canada its Minus 18 this morning!

Thing is it feels better than it did a couple of days ago at minus 8, but the wind was blowing and windchill makes things much worse.

Horses were in for two nights when we had a winter storm over the weekend but are now happy out in their field.
The big uns have winter rugs and the ponies are wooly mamoth Shetlands so don't need anything.

Only another 4 months of this to go.
