And just don't realise it. I am a very nervous rider and usually stick to ground work and plodding around on a hack on my very rock solid and reliable welsh cob. I also own a trotter cross whom I have done the groundwork and quietly backed and a friend has ridden away. I have always assumed he would be too much for me to ride as he is alot more forward than the welsh d and a bit "looky". Tonight I looked at him and thought I would like to ride him! Said to friend if I feel unsafe I would hop off and we could swap back!!!
Set off on hack riding Alf in front with slight trepidation, remembered to keep relaxed and keep leg on had a first trot bit wobbly then another and then another!! He is a seriously fun, comfortable, forward going fab little horse!!!
Funny thing is I was planning to sell him and get something friend could do a bit of dressage with and would be safe for me to hack - and here it is, under my nose!! So now we have to prove to people that trotter crosses can, in fact do dressage, as we are talking unaffiliated novice level I see no reason why not!!
