The farrier came to put shoes on Alee's back feet as we thought that her lameness was due to being foot sore.
My poor farrier really struggled to get on her left hind as my even poorer horse was finding it so hard to weight bare on her right hind.
Shoes on and I thought she looked even worse really struggling to weight bare on her right hind at all.
Right hind shoe off again and farrier had a good dig around no bruising or absess at all.
Right hind since she has been stood in is now very puffy and the more she rests it the more she struggles to weight bare

Farriers passing comment was 'lets hope its not suspensory' to which I promptly burst into tears

He said he doesn't like the look of it at all and hasn't seen a horse that lame for quite a while.
It really has got worse overnight so she is now in a stable with a lovely thick fluffy bed and is booked in at the vets on Monday after noon.
My poor poor baby just looks so sad.
I am going to need a huge amount of vibes on Monday guys so keep them coming.

I think they say 10-20 mins, but not in direct contact with the skin (expect you know that anyway!), or cold hose for 15-20 mins.

Fingers crossed for your girl!

Please don't stress, I had exactly the same issue as you a month ago, tbh we thought it was due to his back problems as he was going into Rossdales for a full MOT, we thought kissing spines!! Well got him there, ok back was sore but then turned out completely lame on all 4s was struggling to hold one leg up and when the farrier had shod him he was actually lifting him - poor b*gger he was nearly on his knees (farrier that is!)
Anyway long story short, yes problems with back - hole in the tendon that runs along spine, but after nerve blocks, scans, bone scans, xrays you name it, the main problem was that he had extremely thin soles in fact if he stood on a sharp stone and it pierced the sole it would go into the bones in his feet - they are that thin and the bones are that close to the floor. So please do not worry, oh and in the scans they thought his suspensorys (sp) would be f*cked but they were perfect. So please, please don't keep feeling the worst, if there is heat or swelling then cold hose, if not I wouldn't and I would actually speak to the vet and see if they would rather she was on box rest or out, a lot of vets would prefer them out as long as they aren't stupid in the field. Thoughts and hugs are with you xxxxx

Have spoken to vets and as she is occasionaly struggling to weight bare they said to keep her in till she is seen on monday. There is not heat but all down the back of that leg is puffy. Trouble is she is only 4 so when out she does have good gallops around.
Its so frustrating we had a such a fab lesson on Thursday and a glorious hack on Sunday which is such a move on from what we had been doing...

vibes for you ((((()))))
am going through a similar thing with my boy, am taking him to Liphook next Thurs for investigation.. i also burst into tears on my farrier on Weds, bless him.!
it is so worrying when you have no idea what is wrong and have to wait to find out..
x

I hope that this turns out to be a trivial problem, then all your worry will not have been needed:) If not then you will have done your stressing and be ready to be in practical mode and do what you have to. Please have as many vibes as you need.
